More about the Club & RRC

The dream of making MacDonald Island, in the heart of Fort McMurray, the recreational center for the community officially started in 1972 with the opening of its founding amenity the Miskanaw Golf Club.  Since that time, the RRC has added a number of sporting activities including stadium ball fields, football/major events stadium and the incredible indoor sporting recreational center.  Furthermore, the Miskanaw Golf Club celebrated the completion of a modern redesign and redevelopment in 2015. The course continues to enhance and expand the user experience each season to meet the modern needs of its members and visitors.

At RRC, the core values—Safety, Collaboration, Innovation, Sustainability & Diversity—is the driving force behind everything they do. Leadership means more than just overseeing a course. It means nurturing a team, stewarding the land, and crafting a world-class experience that brings people together through sport and connection. Work-life balance isn't just a perk here—it's part of who they are. They believe their people do their best when they’re supported, empowered, and given the time to live fully—on and off the clock.

At Miskanaw Golf Club—an 18-hole gem nestled among the boreal forest and framed by the majestic Athabasca and Clearwater rivers—you’ll find more than just lush fairways and challenging greens. You’ll discover a place where nature, sport, and community come together.
