More about the Club & City
The St. Marys Golf & Country Club is nestled in Southwestern Ontario on the edge of St. Marys, a charming and picturesque community of 7,000 residents where the Thames River meets Trout Creek. A stroll through the historic streets of St. Marys reveals stunning limestone architecture and a vibrant downtown core. The town offers a unique blend of rural charm and urban amenities, with Stratford just 15 minutes away and London a 30-minute drive. Residents enjoy a rich quality of life paired with an affordable cost of living.
The Club officially opened its doors on July 1, 1932. Originally surveyed in 1927 by Fred Lofft and Stanley Thompson, it remained a nine-hole golf course until 1994. Renowned architect David Moote, of Moote & Associates, designed the updated layout, which incorporates the rolling St. Marys topography. The redesign preserved the original course's challenging nature while enhancing its playability by adding two ponds to complement the existing two creeks in play.
With ongoing upgrades, the golf course has evolved into one of the premier semi-private facilities in Southwestern Ontario. Enhancements include the addition of paved cart paths, the creation of a unique waterfall feature, the redesign of the 8th green and 9th fairway, and the regular renovation of sand traps.
As a result, the course is highly rated and proudly serves as the home course for the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.
The Future:
Ownership places great importance on regularly reinvesting in the Club to enhance the customer experience across all areas of our organization. The recent renovations and upgrades on the course and to our facilities have made a significant impact on the people we serve, reinforcing our reputation as a leading golf and banquet destination in Southwestern Ontario.
Continuing this commitment, the addition of The Penrose Suites, our new on-site accommodations, represents another milestone in our efforts to elevate the guest experience and drive our business forward. This strategic investment ensures we remain at the forefront of hospitality and leisure in the region.
In addition, the pump house will be replaced in March and they have purchased a new Toro turf sprayer. These upgrades reflect our ongoing dedication to maintaining and updating the equipment fleet to meet the highest standards of excellence.
