The  is currently seeking an exceptional individual to assume the role of General Manager (GM) serving as the Chief Operating Officer.

 

The GM will manage all aspects of the Club, including its activities and relationships between the Club and its Board of Directors, Members, guests, employees, community, government, and industry. 

​

Reporting to the Board of Directors through the President, the GM is responsible for managing the overall performance of the  by providing an exceptional Member experience. 
 

The Facility: The, founded in 1891, is one of the oldest golf clubs in Canada. The Club received its Royal designation in 1912.  The Club prides itself as private yet welcoming to all members and their guests.  We foster friendships, social activity and friendly competition are integral to Club life. 

​

The Clubhouse serves as the social hub for the membership with a magnificent Clubhouse that was recently renovated.  The old-world charm with modern conveniences offer unlimited potential for member event hosting of events.   Our clubhouse and patio offer a welcomed setting for our noteworthy food, beverage and social ambiance. 

 

The club in recent years has heavily invested in the golf course and range/academy facilities.  The Main18-hole course will test the skills of even the most avid golfer.  The club values the members time and prides itself to offer four hours of golf. The relaxed atmosphere of the Royal Nine course provides a perfect setting for those honing their techniques making it also ideal for families and juniors. Our newly built academy, driving range and short-game facility operates with state-of-the-art trackman technologies and is the largest such facility in Canada.

C.O.O. / GM's Main Responsibilities

  • Highly visible and interactive throughout all seasons, the GM will be a professional in personal style, demeanour and presence and comfortable interacting with Members and staff.  They will be chief host within the Club and ambassadors of the Club within the community. 

​

  • Lead the annual planning, goal setting and financial performance of the Club. Having a strong understanding of the game of golf, its history and traditions, and experience in a well-regarded club or similar hospitality environment is required.

​

  • Leadership - Develop an effective working relationship with the Board and Committees to lead the development of the Club’s strategic and annual plans. Be a mentor and build a strong management team. Foster a culture of change to maintain and improve ROGC’s best-in-class premier golf club position. 

​

  • Budget & Finance –  Prepare and execute fiscal budgets.  Ensure accurate record keeping is in place to assist with reviews.

​

  • Communication – Monitor all communications with members. Provide strong communications to internal and external customers. Be a visionary leader and represent the ROGC and its Membership with pride.

​

  • Member and Clubhouse Experience - Deliver a consistently exceptional Clubhouse experience by providing a high-calibre food and beverage offering, quality service and Member social programming.  Ensure Clubhouse maintenance is upkept daily and following the Campus Master Plan.

  • Conducts themselves in a responsible and professional manner. 

  • Able to be diplomatic and tactful, yet firm, when dealing with Member constituents. 

  • Self-starter, results orientated and hands-on when needed. 

Qualifications and Skills -

  • Post-secondary degree in business or a golf-related program. 

  • Certified Club Manager designation is preferred (CCM). 

  • Experience reporting to a Board and an understanding of club governance. 

  • Proven leadership track record. 

  • Experience in a premier club environment. 

  • Bilingualism would be considered an asset.
