The PGA of Canada Atlantic is seeking the services of a qualified individual to fill the position of EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (ED). The successful candidate will be a customer service-focused individual to be the Operational Leader for the Association. The ED will have to connect with both its internal (membership) and external (sponsors, media, public) customers. With a small staff, the ED will also require solid financial ability, an accurate record keeper and detail-oriented.

The successful candidate will need to have a personality which will allow them to become quickly familiar with the diverse membership. They must be skilled in creating and delivering services and programs that will provide value to each member as they advance in their careers. The PGA of Atlantic Board is searching for a strong communicator who has the skill set to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in running the day-to-day operations as well as future strategic planning for the PGA of Atlantic.
The Organization – The PGA of Canada Atlantic was founded in 1946 and its 190 PGA Professionals work in the Golf Industry in various capacities including General Managers, Directors of Golf, Head Golf Professionals, Instructors, Coaches, etc. It is a regional zone of the PGA of Canada which has approximately 3,800 members.

The Association's mandate is to develop, promote and support their Members as experts in the game and business of golf and, in so doing, serve both its Members' needs and those of the golfing public through the Association's varied programs and events.
​
The PGA of Atlantic is led by a policy volunteer Board which is selected by the Members of the Zone.
​
The Zone Association is in a strong financial position and has the budget for one additional support staff to assist in the day-to-day operations to assist with events, membership and accounting needs.
​
The Atlantic Zone works collaboratively with the National PGA of Canada Association in many matters such as education, awards & membership categories. The Zone does have flexibility and autonomy of how it delivers the member benefits such as education seminars, buying shows, zone tournaments and events.
The Position – Reporting to the President of the Association, the successful candidate will be a key member of the Leadership Team. With 10 Board members, that will continue to evolve with the length of their terms, the Executive Director will provide continuity of the leadership group.

The Board has standing committees which are created to assist the Executive Director and the PGA of Atlantic staff in delivering the standard of member services expected by its members. The ED helps to facilitate these and regular Board Meetings while maintaining that the meetings are in accordance with all Bylaws and policies of the Zone.
The successful candidate will guide the PGA of Atlantic towards the achievement of the mission, vision and core values of the PGA of Canada Strategic Plan.

The role will allow the successful candidate to work from a home-based office. In order to connect with the full membership of PGA Atlantic, it will require some travel to the different regions of the area and occasional weekend events.




Executive Director's Main Responsibilities

Budget & Finance – Prepare and execute fiscal budgets. Ensure accurate record-keeping is in place to assist with the annual audit.

Championships & Events – Direct and coordinate all Zone Golf Tournaments. Execute various events such as the Buying Show, Award Show, and other events which showcase the PGA of Atlantic image.

Communication – Monitor all communications with members. Ensure website and social media platforms are updated accordingly. Provide strong communications to internal and external customers.

Membership & Education - Coordinate additional professional development programming for membership. Assist with any membership inquiries. Facilitate the Job Postings, Safe Sport and other Membership needs including keeping the member database current.

Business Development - Coordinate to build relationships and sales to help maximize revenue. Undertake activities that improve the visibility of the association. Establish strong relationships with PGA Zone/National and other golf associations such as the NGCOA, Golf Canada and Atlantic Golf Superintendents.

Human Resources & General Management - Responsible for all hiring/firing as well as professional development of staff. Ensure a Standard Operating Policy manual is updated and used with staff training.
Candidate Profile
​
• Relevant experience leading a team. Having a well-rounded background in administration, communications and business development will be an asset.
• Demonstrated exceptional customer service.
• Strong leadership and relationship-building internally and externally.
• Experience in sport. Preferably in a non-profit provincial or national sports association
• Track record of motivating and inspiring a team towards a common vision with defined goals with a history of being collaborative.
• Experience in Bylaws and Governance.
• Experience in the organization & promotion of events/tournaments.
• Ability to tactfully enforce policies, rules and regulations of the association.
• Having a strong Golf or PGA background would assist but is not essential.
Compensation

• $65,000-$80,000 (based on experience and cost of living)
