After several decades of a successful service, the New Ashburn Golf Course Superintendent is retiring this Spring. The Club is seeking to find its next Golf Course Operations leader to lead the facility for the exciting years ahead. Located 25 minutes from downtown Halifax in the beautiful community of Fall River, the New Ashburn provides the opportunity to choose to live in Halifax or the peaceful serene setting that Nova Scotia is known for.
The Facility: Ashburn Golf Club (the “Club”) is the premiere private member golf club in Atlantic Canada. Originally founded in 1922, the Club maintains two 18-hole golf facilities referred to by its members as Old Ashburn (located in Halifax) and New Ashburn (located in Fall River).
The Club boasts a thriving playing membership of approximately 1,400 members who are joined by an additional 500 social members.
Designed by Geoffrey Cornish and opened in 1970, New Ashburn remains one of the stalwart tests in the Canadian game, having been called a “spectacularly strong layout, featuring fiendishly tilted fairways, unyielding rough, and large, fast greens,” in John Gordon’s Great Golf Courses of Canada. New Ashburn boasts a world-class practice facility, a modern clubhouse that offers bar and restaurant services, a pro shop, and a spacious, redesigned maintenance facility built in 2016.
New Ashburn has hosted several Nova Scotia Golf Association and Golf Canada championships over the last 50 years and in 2014 and 2015 hosted the Korn Ferry Tour’s Nova Scotia Open. New Ashburn will host the 2023 Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship in August.
Over the past decade, the Club has invested more than $10 million on capital projects including new practice facilities at both New Ashburn and Old Ashburn and a rebuild of the greens and bunkers at Old Ashburn.
With a strong balance sheet and a commitment to providing an exceptional membership experience, the Club launched a market sounding process in the Fall of 2021 to create a Master Plan for New Ashburn

Why Ashburn: This is an exciting time for the golf course. Long known as one of the best in the east, the club is in final negotiations with selecting an architect for it Golf Course Master Plan. The Superintendent will be an integral part of any future construction on the property.
The position also offers a lifestyle which many spots in Canada cannot offer. Halifax is known for its friendly people, beautiful surroundings, vibrant culture, and rich history. Halifax is one of Canada's fastest growing municipalities, and as of 2022 had an estimated population approaching 500,000. Compared to many other populations of this size, housing is affordable which makes it desirable for a family or those looking to shed burdens of high monthly mortgage payments
